Let There Be Light by Melissa Storm ~ Review

Three reasons you should read this Sweet Romance:

  • Let There Be Light by Melissa Storm is a fun enemies-to-lovers sweet romance with characters I adored.
  • I loved the little nod to Cinderella at the beginning.
  • Melissa Storm brought in my favorite characters from book one and made sure I had a chance to catch up with them – all without taking the spotlight away from our new couple.

Let There Be Light by Melissa Storm

Scarlett Cole is caught between two worlds. Accustomed to living out her adventures between the pages of great books, she now has the opportunity to participate in the sporting tradition she loves so much. Unfortunately, she’ll only have one chance to make a name for herself in the dog-sledding world before she needs to put these aspirations aside forever.

Henry Mitchell is another new contender in the great race, and he comes with a large media following. Challenged to place in the top ten of the Iditarod or forfeit his grandfather’s riches, failure could mean losing everything.

Do either Scarlett or Henry have what it takes? And what will happen when the sport places them in direct competition with each other? Will these star-crossed racers find something sweeter amidst their bitter rivalry?

My Review of Let There Be Light:

Let There Be Light by Melissa Storm is a great adventure story with an enemies-to-lovers romance that will melt your heart. Scarlett was a character that I could easily relate to as a reader. She lives in the worlds between the pages of her books. And we all know how that feels. But she’s ready to experience her own adventure this time.

She begins training for the Iditarod. Which seemed a little out of place to me. It’s the biggest sled dog race in the world. And I didn’t think you can just jump right in and run it your first year in training. But maybe I’m wrong. Because that’s exactly what she did – with the help of Lauren and Shane from the previous book.

Henry Mitchell has a very bad reputation, and it isn’t clear at first if he really deserves it. But he’s also out to win the Iditarod, with much more at stake than Scarlett. Because his family’s inheritance is on the line. And his family is not well-loved in the dog community.

Henry and Scarlett make an interesting match from the very beginning. With the hint of a Cinderella story at the ball, their meeting is quite memorable – and news-worthy. The back and forth between Scarlett wanting to help and wanting nothing to do with Henry seemed very fitting for both their characters. And it was well-done and believable.

Melissa Storm did an amazing job with the ending. So I will not give any hints to ruin it for you. But she found the perfect way to give everyone a happily ever after. I’m excited to jump right in a read more of the series to see who gets to fall in love next.

About Let There Be Love by Melissa Storm

Title: Let There Be Love
Author: Melissa Storm
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Lauren Dalton’s world shattered the day her father died. Now she’s willing to move four-thousand miles away from the only home she’s ever known in hopes of discovering the truth about his hidden past.

Shane Ramsey’s reputation says all anyone needs to know. He’s an amazing racer, but a terrible person. When an injury leaves him unable to work his dogs, he must swallow his pride and accept help for the sake of his team.

Will Shane open his home and his heart to the young woman who already shares his greatest love? Will Lauren find her place—and the truth about her family’s past—in helping the cantankerous Shane?

My Review of Let There Be Love:

Let There Be Love by Melissa Storm is an amazing story of love and redemption set in the world of Alaskan sled dogs (who are super cute even if they are working). Both Lauren and Shane have deep stories, and they developed into people I would love to call my friends.

Lauren starts out a little lost. Hating her job and not sure what she wants to do with her life. When her father dies unexpectedly, she finds out that his past (and hers) are not what she thought they were. So off to Alaska she goes – to discover her sledding history.

Seth’s story was a bit more complicated from the very beginning. And there were many times I wondered why he was such a jerk all the time. Lauren seems to thrive taking care of Mr. Grump and his team of sled dogs, but his refusal to open up drives her crazy.

She does a few sneaky things that she shouldn’t have, and somehow Seth ends up apologizing for them. Which bothered me a bit, because it should have been the other way around, but they seemed to work it out.

As Lauren and Seth start to develop a relationship, both of the pasts came back to visit in ways that I didn’t see coming. It was the perfect dose of extra drama to keep things moving along as they still fought their feelings for each other.

This was a great start to a series that I ended up binge-reading. Animals, romance, and great personalities are the perfect book combo.

In Other Words, Love by Shirley Jump ~ Review

In Other Words, Love by Shirley Jump ~ Review

Three reasons you should read this Hallmark Romance:

  • In Other Words, Love by Shirley Jump is an amazing sweet romance with all the good feels that you expect from Hallmark.
  • The second-chance romance is one of my favorite tropes, and this one hit all the high points.
  • Kate and Trent are so perfect for each other it makes you wonder why they can’t see it from page one.

About In Other Words, Love by Shirley Jump

Title: In Other Words, Love
Author: Shirley Jump
Genre: Contemporary Romance

The Jabberwocky Princess

She’s been hired to ghostwrite a CEO’s autobiography…
Yep, that CEO. The one who broke her heart.

When Kate’s agent gets her the job of writing Trent’s autobiography, she almost balks. The charismatic founder of his own outdoor clothing company dumped her when they were in college. But she needs the money.

Trent’s been so busy lately, he completely forgot he was supposed to be writing a book, and the draft is due soon. He wants Kate as the ghostwriter: she’s experienced, and she was always smart and hard-working. They can keep things professional, right?

In funny and touching ways, the project gives them a fresh perspective on the past, even prompting a road trip to Trent’s hometown that uncovers forgotten feelings. But will they both have the courage to start a new chapter in life?

My Review of In Other Words, Love:

In Other Words, Love by Shirley Jump is such a sweet romance – both in terms of genre and just in general. The second-chance romance is everything you could ever want. Kate is terrified to let herself fall for Trent again. And Trent is just terrified in general.

While Kate and Trent didn’t have a massive, horrible, awful breakup, it did leave Kate devastated. I’m not entirely sure how it left Trent. Possibly regretful? I wish I could have gotten a little more into his head about that.

But now they need each other. Kate needs the paycheck from ghostwriting his book. And Trent needs her to ghostwrite the book or his company could be in trouble. So they agree to keep it professional – but we all know how that turns out.

Their path back to each other was scenic and beautiful. Their connection was evident on every page. Both characters had to grow and change. Life threw them both several curveballs, and it only made them seem more real. Sometimes they rolled with the punches, and sometimes they needed some help to get there.

The side characters really stood out in this one. The snarky and unsupportive friend from college. The families that only wanted what was best for both of them. Especially Kate’s grandma – she was amazing.

There was more than just a romance here. There was a finding of themselves. A reconnection to their dreams and who they really are. A very well-developed and captivating story.
